New Choosing Wisely Lists

Choosing Wisely lists were recently published by the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Both organizations included recommendations related to MRIs for breast cancer screening:

The American Society of Breast Surgeons states:

• Don’t routinely order breast MRI in new breast cancer patients.

From the Society of Surgical Oncology:

• Don’t routinely use breast MRI for breast cancer screening in average risk women.
